CALL FOR ARTISTS LEGENDS, HEROES, and LEADERS Friday February 12 - Wednesday February 24, 2010
|
To celebrate Black History month and the 50th anniversary of the start of
the sit-in demonstrations in North Carolina, THE LoDi PROJECT would like
to see in our February 2010 exhibition titled “Legends, Heroes and
Leaders” how artists are inspired by the courageous African American men
and women who fought, and still are fighting, for Equal and Civil Rights for
all Americans. Artists who apply can address this theme by using a variety
of media and multiple techniques, such as video, photography, digital
design, graffiti, calligraphy, and painting.

ACCEPTED WORKS
Accepted entries will be selected at the discretion of the curator. All notifications of accepted
and not accepted works will only be done through an email address. Artists accepted into
the exhibition must exhibit the entry submitted on the application form. Any work differing
from the image in the application, or suffers from poor presentation will be disqualified. All
accepted works must remain at the gallery for the duration of the exhibit. All work submitted
to the exhibition must be dry, wired, ready to hang, and if framed, under plexiglass – NO
GLASS. We recognize that some work is non-traditional in its presentation, and unless
being an integral part of the work, we highly encourage the use of a simple black or natural
wood frame. If matting is needed, we also encourage a white or off white mat, and
discourage the use of colored mats. Works on gallery-wrapped canvas or on canvas where
the staples are located on the back, and therefore out of view, do not need to be framed as
long as the edges are cleanly finished or painted. Canvases with stapled sides should be
framed. Professional-level presentation is a must.

Unless indicated as not for sale (NFS), all work accepted will be available for sale during
the exhibition. THE LoDI PROJECT will conduct all sales during the exhibition and will
retain a commission of 40% on all artwork sold.
DELIVERY AND RETURN OF WORK
Accepted works may be hand delivered or shipped to THE LoDi PROJECT by the specified
date (see calendar on the other side of this prospectus). Shipped works must be sent in a
sturdy and easily reusable container/ crate / packaging with a return shipping prepaid label
inside, and a removable top or end fastened with screws and not nails. Works will be
returned in the same manner as delivered.

damage caused by gallery patrons or staff (in accordance with insurance policy).
Insurance does not cover damage caused during shipping due to any reason, including
mishandling by carrier or failure of packaging to protect works in transit. Also not covered is
damage caused to work by failure of the work itself, its mounting systems installed by the

craftsmanship. For your own protection, insure your shipment to and from THE LoDI
PROJECT.
